Royal Enfield and Bajaj Auto, both are the renowned Indian two-wheeler makers. Royal Enfield is known for its premium motorcycles, whereas, the Bajaj Auto has a wide range of motorcycles in its portfolio. Demands of the cruiser motorcycle in the country are increasing widely. Recently, Bajaj Auto has introduced its three motorcycles in cruiser range- Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise, 220 Street and 150 Street. Here we are taking a round on the both, Thunderbird 350 and newly introduced Bajaj Avenger 150 Street. Both are the cruiser motorcycles.

The Avenger is the flagship cruiser motorcycle of Bajaj Auto that was launched with 180cc motor in June 2005. In 2007, the company was introduced the upgraded version of Avenger with 200cc motor. In July 2010, the company launched a 220cc Avenger that comes with few changes such as headlight, fuel tank mounted meter, etc. And now, the company has introduced two new variants of 220 Avenger and a new single model in 150cc segment.

Thunderbird, it is one of the best cruiser motorcycles from the Royal Enfield stable. It was introduced back in October 2012 with 350cc and 500cc motor. It becomes the most successful motorcycle of Indian two-wheeler market.

Engine and Power

Avenger Street 150 is powered by a 150cc DTS-I, twin spark, air-cooled and four stroke motor that rewards you with its dynamic performance and standard ride quality. The 150cc motor returns maximum power of 14.54 PS at 9000 RPM and makes 12.5 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. All the power is kept under control by five speed transmission.

The Thunderbird 350 is powered by a single cylinder, air-cooled, 4 stroke, Twinspark motor, carrying an engine displacement of 346cc. The 350cc motor makes it able to produce 19.8 BHP of power at 5,250 RPM and 28Nm of torque at 4,000 RPM. The motor is coupled with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.

Design and Style

Thunderbird is one of the most lovable models from the Royal Enfield stable. The motorcycle is featured with excellent cruiser styling that comprises of conventional spokes wheels, pea-nut shaped fuel tank and backrest for the pillion and well-padded split seat for rider and pillion. The motorcycle gets front and rear mudguard that adds a modern touch in its appeal. Thunderbird 350 is equipped with a round shaped projector headlamp and LED tail light that gives an eye-catching to the motorcycle. The motorcycle comes equipped with analog-digital instrument cluster which consists odometer, trip meter, clock, and fuel gauge. The frontward positioned foot pegs endow a standard sitting position to the rider. The Thunderbird 350 comes in four stunning color options- Marine, Lighting, Stone, and Flicker.

Avenger Street 150 is the most beautiful motorcycle that dressed well in all dark shades and components. The motorcycle is featured with a high raised handlebar and single unit seat that makes you feel very relaxed and comfortable. Bajaj has given attractive design and style to the motorcycle as the motorcycle is featured with a round headlight, sporty alloy wheels, Avenger Insignia for a whole new identity and semi-digital instrument console. Being a heavy machine, the manufacturer blessed it with a front 41mm telescopic forks and five steps adjustable rear suspension that easily observes small bumps and holes. To enhance stopping ability, the firm has equipped it with 280mm front disc and 240mm rear disc brake. The broad rear tyre is ensured for skid-free ride around the corners. The low seat height makes it easy to handle in the city traffic with ease.

The Bajaj Avenger Street 150 is featured with standard safety elements that provide safe and comfortable ride each and every time. The motorcycle is light in weight that makes it easy to handle in each, slow and high speed, conditions. Furthermore, the new Street 150 comes featured with a 240mm front disc brake and 130mm rear drum brake. It rides on front 90/90-17 front and 130/90 rear tyre. The suspension duties are taken care by same front telescopic suspension and rear hydraulic shock absorber.

Price and Shades

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is priced at a price tag of INR 1,62,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The cruiser motorcycle is available in the market in five color options including Lightning, Stone - Black Matt, Marine Blue, Asphalt and Flicker Black.

While, the Bajaj Avenger Street 150 recently launched with the price tag of INR 81,459/- (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle is available in two shades only, Midnight Blue and Cosmic Red.
